Marine Surveys

The world marine dataset consists of over 13 million observations and was processed by both NGDC and GSFC utilizing the AVSIG routine. An average Kp cutoff limit of +2 was also imposed, i.e. data with Kp > 2 was not retained in the marine dataset. Towed scalar intensity magnetometer data after 1950 is included in the marine dataset. Earlier data were put into the Surface Survey category.

Recent Marine data (scalar only) obtained from NGDC of surveys from 1966-1992 prepared for the main field model GSFC(S95-xx). Data from 1985-1992 are well distributed and were included in the model after along track averaging.
