Earl B. Frederick is the man responsible for our GPS ground station
when we are in the field. He will typically rent a minivan or truck
and fill it with portable computers and multiple GPS receivers. He sets
up over a surveyed benchmark and operates the receivers in a high rate
static mode. This allows us to compute the position of the aircraft
very accurately, as we run two receivers on the plane simultaneously.
