These angular momentum data are equivalent to those published by Chao et al. (1996), for their so-called Model C. The Chao et al. paper is the proper citation for these data. The angular momentum data are based on the TPXO.2 ocean tide model of Egbert et al. (1994), supplemented with Arctic Ocean data for selected tides from Ray et al. (1997). Egbert's TPXO.2 model is an assimilation model; it uses both a hydrodynamic model and tidal observations in the form of sea-surface height differences at the cross-over points of the Topex/Poseidon satellite.
Amplitude and Greenwich phase lag are given for major tidal constituents. The (x,y,z) Cartesian components of angular momentum refer to the (Greenwich, 90°E, North) axes. Momentum components are decomposed into those due to tidal oceanic heights, which perturb the inertia tensor, and tidal currents, which effect relative momentum exchanges between ocean and mantle.
Units of momentum amplitude are 1025 kg m2/s. Units of phase are degrees.
