These angular momentum data for tidal periods correspond to the ocean model GOT99.2 of Ray (1999). (Note: GOT = Goddard/Grenoble Ocean Tide.) The ocean data are primarily based on the tidal analyses of 6 years of Topex/Poseidon altimeter data, supplemented with several hydrodynamic models in shallow and polar seas. See Ray (1999) for details on model development, as well as for comparisons of the model with tide gauge measurements. Tidal current velocities are based on a least-squares inversion algorithm that fits to a linearized form of Laplace's tidal equations.

Amplitude and Greenwich phase lag are given for major tidal constituents. The (x,y,z) Cartesian components of angular momentum refer to the (Greenwich, 90°E, North) axes. Momentum components are decomposed into those due to tidal oceanic heights, which perturb the inertia tensor, and tidal currents, which effect relative momentum exchanges between ocean and mantle.

Units of momentum amplitude are 1025 kg m2/s. Units of phase are degrees.
